My Election Pledge to YouIn the last few months I have been listening to voters in Ryan and reading the replies to my recent letterboxed survey. Overwhelmingly people simply want good, honest government. And they expect to be heard and respected. I share that view, but I know there is scepticism about politicians. Because of this I have decided to make this pledge to you. I guarantee that all of these are core pledges!
As your representative, I will:Give a 100% commitment to the job, respect for your views, and be open and accountable for all my decisions including my use of public monies.Practice the values that make communities strong namely protection of human rights, pursuit of social justice, respect for difference, a deep care for our fragile planet and an optimism about our shared future.
As your Member of Parliament I will:Take personal responsibility for all my political decisions.Explain the reasons behind my Parliamentary votes. Use public monies for real newsletters not self promotion. Encourage young people to engage the political process.
And I will serve you and Ryan by:Responding properly and promptly to every letter, e-mail and phone call.Using all the options of the Internet to listen, respond and communicate. Personally doorknocking in every suburb at least once per year. Holding annual mobile offices and town-hall- style forums in every suburb. Attending as many community events as possible.
