There's only one way to stop the Goodna Bypass...The Prime Minister isn't listening - but Kevin Rudd and Ross Daniels are. Labor is committed to stopping the Goodna Bypass. The Howard Government is committed to pressing on regardless of the cost (now admitted to be $3 billion!), waste, disruption and simple bad sense of the project. Only a Labor Government will stop the Goodna Bypass - if you want to help stop the Goodna Bypass there's only one thing to do: Vote Labor on Election Day |
Here's what I said in a media release about the Ipswich Motorway
15 March 2007 Wrong Decision, Too Late, Says Daniels Labor Candidate for Ryan, Ross Daniels has slammed the Federal Government's decision to build the Goodna Bypass. Mr Daniels said that the Goodna By pass option is lavish, slow to implement and less effective. "It is a waste of $1 billion of your money and my money, over and above the cost of the full upgrade of Ipswich motorway," he said. "That $1 billion which the Howard Government are wasting to buy votes for local Federal Liberal Members of Parliament would be better spent on other major projects." Mr Daniels said that not only are the Howard Government spending $2.3 billion, when they should spend half that on the full upgrade of the Ipswich Motorway, they have chosen an option that wrecks the homes and lifestyles of more people than any other option. "Plainly, John Howard doesn't care about the residents who are affected, and doesn't care about the taxpayers whose money he is wasting," he said. "Labor remains committed to the full upgrade of the Ipswich Motorway - the best and most cost-effective option." Mr Daniels said that the Howard Government has known for years of the desperate need to fix the Ipswich Motorway, and demonstrated they didn't care. "They have made a decision only now because Kevin Rudd is doing so well in the polls," he said. "Labor will give the highest priority to the full upgrade of the Ipswich Motorway upon gaining Federal Government."
